Following the strategic meetings started in Zurich (Switzerland), as a follow-up to the bilateral labor agreement signed on November 26, 2020, the concrete needs currently facing the Romanian labor market were outlined and new strategic directions were drawn, in order to increase by 201TPTP3T the number of workers supplied by the Philippine government in 2023.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The official meetings took place between Yosef Gavriel Peisakh, general manager of WORK FROM ASIA agency and representative of the Romanian business community, one of the main importers of foreign labor in the country, and Maria Susana Vasquez Ople, Minister Delegate for Migration of the Philippines.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\"The Philippine government has shown great interest in the situation in our country and in identifying ways to increase the number of Filipino workers accessing the Romanian labor market. Following this first round of discussions, we estimate that this year we will see an increase of 201TPTP3T in the number of Filipino workers with the right to work in Romania. This time the Philippine government will focus on supporting the access of new areas of activity to meet the needs of the Romanian business environment,\" said Yosef Gavriel Peisakh.<\/p>\n
While up to now Filipino workers coming to the country are mainly appreciated for their services in the domestic segment of the activity, especially Filipino nannies and housekeepers, who are highly appreciated by Romanian employers with higher incomes, their real capacity is to cover all areas of activity. Many requests to hire Filipino personnel have been registered for jobs as professional welders, professional truck drivers, call center operators and agricultural workers, areas in which foreign personnel are highly sought after by Romanian entrepreneurs.<\/p>\n
With good English speakers and a supply of well-trained skilled workers, Filipino staff are still highly motivated to work in Romania, where salaries are said to be 60% higher than in their home country.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\"Filipino workers are currently the most stable segment of foreign labor force in Romania, because we are talking about a completely different culture, where duty and loyalty to the employer play a major role. Moreover, people are very motivated by the conditions offered by the Romanian labor market and we can already talk about a growing number of employees who choose to stay permanently in our country\", added Yosef Gavriel Peisakh.<\/p>\n
The talks will continue next week in the Philippines, where the implementation of the first set of measures discussed will already begin.<\/p>\n
