A new trend in domestic staffing: nannies and maids from Indonesia

14/10/2025

The domestic sector labor market in Romania is undergoing an increasingly evident change, and recent trends indicate a significant increase in demand for Asian domestic staff. According to estimates by recruitment agencies and the industry, several thousand Asian nannies and housekeepers, mainly from the Philippines, Nepal and recently Indonesia, are working in private households in Romania, especially in big cities.

In this context, "Indonesia's nannies and housekeepers" have become, in a very short time, favorite choice of many wealthy families in Romania and are starting to become one of the most requested options by families who want qualified, empathetic and highly trained staff. This development is largely due to an unprecedented offer launched by WORK FROM ASIA, one of Romania's most experienced foreign staff recruiters, active since 2010.

The current offers proposed by WORK FROM ASIA exclusively target employees on their first contract in Romania, in a so-called "first timer" regime, which ensures a high level of motivation, seriousness and commitment. Their training takes place in specialized training centers in Indonesia, where they follow courses in hygiene, childcare, first aid and English.

In addition, the agency offers a "one-year free contractual replacement guarantee", which means employers are protected in case of incompatibility or withdrawal. What's more, "the cost of the airfare is fully covered by WORK FROM ASIA, an extremely rare benefit in this industry," says Yosef Gavriel Peisakh, General Manager WORK FROM ASIA.

"This is an unprecedented offer in the field of domestic recruitment. Not only do we offer a 12-month guarantee, we also cover international transportation costs. We take full responsibility for the careful selection of staff and deliver a high standard of quality and safety," said Yosef Gavriel Peisakh, General Manager WORK FROM ASIA.

He adds that the profile of Indonesian employees is increasingly sought after by Romanian families, especially for their human qualities, work discipline, discretion and loyalty. The fact that these women are coming to Romania for the first time makes them approach the relationship with their employer with the utmost seriousness and a desire for long-term stability.

With over 15 years of experience in the field, WORK FROM ASIA is one of the few agencies in Romania that collaborates directly with the authorities in Asian countries, ensuring full legality, ethical recruitment and transparency in all stages: recruitment, training, documentation, transportation, post-placement monitoring and cultural integration.
