There are currently around 3,000 Filipino workers in Romania, and the number is expected to double in the coming year, thanks to diplomatic efforts between the two countries.
Following the extensive bilateral relations between Romania and the Philippines, in 2024, the Romanian Embassy in the Philippines has organized a series of events aimed at facilitating meetings between the Romanian business community and the Philippine government.
These official meetings led to the signing of an important contract to recruit Filipino labor, aiming to bring more than 3,000 truck drivers and more than 500 caregivers for people with disabilities to Romania to fill the shortage in the market.
"We are continuing our pilot project to recruit and place 3,000 HGV drivers and 500 carers for people with disabilities. Our hope is to open up the market for ride-sharing drivers and car and truck mechanics with this opportunity. One of Work from Asia's goals for 2025 is to get approval for a specific labor contract proposed by me for Filipino workers in Romania. In this regard, in March, we expect to sign a new and updated memorandum in Bucharest on the placement of Filipino labor in Romania," said Yosef Gavriel Peisakh, general manager of the company, as quoted by adevarul.ro.
Romania currently hosts about 3,000 foreign workers from the Philippines, and the number is expected to double next year, thanks to diplomatic efforts between the two countries. Bureaucracy remains one of the main challenges in importing foreign labor to Romania, recruitment firm representatives say.
"We look forward to further improving procedures and shortening the time it takes to obtain work permits and visas," added Yosef Gavriel Peisakh.
