More and more wealthy families are choosing to hire Asian personal chefs, known internationally as "personal chefs", say officials at recruitment agency Work From Asia.
The agency specialized in recruiting non-EU workers Work From Asia has a significant increase in applications for Asian staff specializing in fine dining and luxury domestic services. These professionals provide families in Romania with personalized menus that bring the experience of a top restaurant directly into the home, say agency officials.
"Affordable Romanians increasingly want comfort and authentic culinary experiences right in their own home. Asian personal chefs are highly trained, disciplined and have a vast culinary culture, even if they come from the Philippines, Indonesia or Nepal, most of them have international experience and know how to prepare both Asian and European dishes. They adapt quickly to the tastes and lifestyles of the families they work with. These professionals have often worked in top restaurants, luxury hotels or private residences in the Middle East, Europe and Southeast Asia. The presence of a personal chef ensures refinement, comfort and time-saving, while providing personalized, varied and healthy food. Through dedication, attention to detail and a genuine passion for gastronomy, Asia's personal chefs transform every meal into a special experience, bringing a touch of professionalism, harmony and international culinary tradition into the homes of their employers. On the domestic staffing front, we frequently recruit housekeepers, nannies, elderly carers and personal drivers - discreet, responsible and dedicated people. In parallel, more and more requests are coming in for skilled workers: cooks, kitchen helpers, confectioners, confectioners, jewelers, chef's staff and truck drivers. Each candidate goes through a comprehensive assessment process, including testing practical skills and checking previous experience," explains Yosef Gavriel Peisakh, General Manager of Work From Asia.
According to official data, in 2025 the quota of foreign workers approved for Romania was 100,000 people, but the applications submitted to the General Inspectorate for Immigration exceeded 230,000, a sign that the real need of the market is much higher. The HoReCa sector, construction and domestic services remain among the hardest hit.
"For many of our clients, having a personal chef is no longer a luxury but a form of work-life balance. It is an investment in quality, time and comfort, and Asian chefs manage to bring this value every day," concludes Yosef Gavriel Peisakh.
