If until now the construction sector has dominated the figures generated by foreign employment in Romania, in 2022 the HoReCa and car service sectors have seen a spectacular increase in the number of Asian contract workers.
"This year we are noticing that Romanian entrepreneurs have gained even more confidence in the foreign labor force and that they have started to prepare early for the summer season with Asian staff. Our agency has seen an increase of 201TPTP3T in the number of requests received for the recruitment of foreign employees for HoReCa, compared to the same period last year, which can also be said for the automotive sector, where mechanics from Asian countries have become highly appreciated and sought after," Yosef Gavriel Peisakh, general manager Work From Asia, told "Adevărul".
The main reason why most foreign workers prefer to come to Romania is money, with salaries in our country being up to three times higher than they could earn in their home country. Foreign staff are thus motivated to work in the country and have the stability offered by the employment contract. "Salaries here are two or even three times higher, in some cases, than these workers could have earned in their home countries, which of course motivates them. Another clear contractual advantage is the provision of room and board by the employer," added Yosef Gavriel Peisakh.
In terms of employers' reasons for opting to import labor, the top reasons are the entrepreneurs' need for stable staff in the context of the massive migration of Romanian staff and the determination of Asian employees to perform as well as possible at work in order to support the families they leave behind.
The Philippines and Indonesia are the countries that have recently delivered a very large number of foreign workers to Romania, territories where the processing of work visas is now faster and not as long as the 8-month waiting period in other Asian countries.
